Business Cards

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Over the years I have received and handed out thousands of business cards. I have also learned a few things.

How do you react when you are handed a business card?

Do you just take it and put it in your pocket?

Or do you act like you are receiving a gift. In many Asian cultures the business card is presented respectfully with both hands. The person receiving the card speaks your name and title for clarification.

Business cards should be treated with respect when receiving them. Always take a few moments and have a good look at the card, the person’s name, and title. If you have problems with the person’s name, look at the card and ask for help in pronunciation. Compliment that person on the company logo or the design of the card.

After a handshake, the business card is the next physical exchange between individuals. Always have an adequate supply of cards. Carry the cards in a separate case and make sure that they are neat and clean. Old, worn and frayed cards with marks on them may not send the right message to the person with whom you are exchanging cards.

This guy is always good for a laugh and it’s about business cards so I thought it would be appropriate.

Lyn-Tron Representative and Distributor Map

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

We have a new representative and distributor map! Using Google Maps API, Lyn-Tron has created a great tool for locating local representatives and distributors. Starting from the home page, you will find a tab in the middle of the page labeled “FIND A REP OR DISTRIBUTOR”. On this tab you will find  a text box to enter a zip code and a drop down box to specify distance. You can use that if you are looking in a specific area. If you just want to browse map you can click on “search by state”.

In this example I have chosen to search by state. There will be a drop down box filled with state names. Choosing one of these states will center the map on that location and zoom to an appropriate level. You will also notice that markers have been place on the map. These markers represent distributors and representatives, red markers and blue markers respectively. On the left side of the screen the companies will be listed starting with reps and then the distributors. Clicking on a rep or distributor will center the map on there location and zoom appropriately.

The following are images of going through the process click to enlarge:
