Female Ball Studs
Female ball studs are a spring catch style fastener and ideal for applications where repeated engagement and disengagement are required. These are a popular choice for electrical panels, access doors, cabinet doors and other sheet metal enclosures. Different tensions with the same stud can be achieved depending on the Ball-Stud Speed Clip* chosen.
To ensure doors sit flush and snug against the mating panel, Ball Studs come in a variety of standard body lengths. Due to these options, Ball Studs serve as an easy connection in many different applications.
*Ball-Stud Speed Clips are not manufactured by Lyn-Tron.
How are Female Ball Studs Attached?
Female Ball Studs have an internal thread and are installed with a standard 6-32 machine screw. For a more decorative finish, take a look at our range of Thumb Screws. In addition to holding the Ball Stud in place, the Thumb Screw will also serve as a Pull Style Knob for your door.
To install, insert the screw through a pre-drilled hole in the door or panel that is aligned with the center of the Ball-Stud Speed Clip.. Screw on the female ball stud onto the male thread. The ball stud should be facing the clip so it can engage when the door is shut. Misalignment resulting from a normal amount of manufacturing tolerances can be readily absorbed by the spring legs on the speed clip.
